Because it can be a demanding sport, all skaters know what it takes to do great things and they understand the sacrifice (in pain and practice) that it takes to succeed.
So, they are more encouraging, even when you fail, because they can see you going for it.
This is how I grew up, in this encouraging environment where my fellow skaters would “push and praise” you to success.
